Absolutely delighted that my work ‘Fern Boy’ was awarded FIRST PRIZE at The 2018 Salon des Refusés of artworks refused by the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition as most voted artwork out of over 170 UK and international creators across a range of art forms. A big THANK YOU to all who visited the exhibition and enjoyed my work. Congratulations to fellow artists as well – a true honour to be part of such a select group of accomplished artists. This award represents over 10 years of daily work for the perfect picture. Many hours and a lot of observation. I love photography and am glad that this passion has been noticed. It’s been the first time I’ve exhibited and it’s a wonderful recognition, I feel so grateful and encouraged to continue and show more work. Thank you, Happenstance Gallery, none of this would have been possible without you! Thank you to everyone involved!

Fern Boy is a vegetation deity, a sort of forest-god, an emblem of the birth-death-rebirth cycle of the natural year. He speaks to us profoundly in our time of ecological crisis. He is nowhere, yet everywhere. We all have to take care of this pure child.
