I had the joy of photographing another fascinating art project. A casting session at The University of Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design where helpers have worked alongside internationally renowned artist Clare Twomey to produce some of the ten thousand ceramic bowls which will be piled high to create a spectacular installation of pots inside York Art Gallery.
Each bowl takes an hour to make and represents one of the 10,000 hours it is said to take to become a master craftsman.
This casting session/photo session lasted 2 hours and the resulting bowls, cast by people doing this for the first time, are impressive! More photos on flickr.
UPDATE: May 2017 – Clare Twomey’s ‘MANIFEST: 10,000 Hours’ installation is now on show at the York Art Gallery.
